In the main event of NXT (12/2), Io Shirai would help Team Shotzi even the odds against Team Candice. Shotzi Blackheart would go on to defeat Raquel Gonzalez in the ladder match. Therefore, Team Shotzi has the advantage in the women's War Games match.

After a live "Thatch-As-Thatch-Can" where Timothy Thatcher put Tommaso Ciampa to sleep with some help from student, Thatcher said he would be teaching Ciampa another lesson at Takeover.
