Smackdown 6/18/2021: Reigns Defends Against Rey Inside Hell in a Cell; More!

Hell in a Cell Match for the WWE Universal Championship: Rey Mysterio (WWE Smackdown Tag Team Champion) vs. Roman Reigns (champ)
We're in the ThunderDome and we have huge main event planned for tonight as WWE has moved the Hell in a Cell match between WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns and Rey Mysterio to tonight! We open with highlights of showing the build to Mysterio vs. Reigns. Michael Cole and Pat McAfee welcome us to the show and the cell is lowering!! It's midway down now. REY MYSTERIO heads to the ring and grabs a mic. Rey says any parent watching knows what he's feeling right now. The feeling of pain, hurt, and sadness. Rey told Dominik the risks of competing in the ring but this was his dream. Thankfully, Dominik can walk but who knows when he'll return to the ring. Rey says Reigns tossed Dominik like a bag of bricks to the floor over the top rope. Rey will never forget the sound and helpless look. Rey will never forget the man who did this to him..........Roman Reigns! Rey can't wait one more day and that's why he wants the cell match tonight. He knows Reigns accepted last night on Twitter but he wants to hear from the so called Head of the Table himself. Rey calls Reigns a son of a bitch and tells him to get out here. The cell lowers around Rey. Cole says the match is the main event so McAfee questions what will happen now then. ROMAN REIGNS heads to the ring NOT dressed to compete. He's accompanied by Paul Heyman. Reigns and Heyman stop on the ramp. Reigns has a mic and tells Rey to relax. He doesn't want to hurt Rey and says this isn't his fault. Reigns tells Rey he doesn't want to be locked in the cell with him. Reigns says what he did to Dominik was PG compared to what he'll do tonight. Reigns asks if Rey is sure he wants to do this and Rey says he's never been more ready in his life. Reigns says have it your way because he tries to be diplomatic. Now we do it Reigns way and he leaves with Heyman. Cole stresses that it's the main event tonight.
Cole and McAfee hype the cell match as the first ever cell match in Smackdown history.
A video package hypes the debut of Commander Azeez. Apollo Crews hypes the debut of Azeez in a promo. The tag match will happen after a commercial.
Apollo Crews (WWE Intercontinental Champion) & Commander Azeez vs. Big E & Kevin Owens
I had a severe weather update so I missed the beginning of the match. I came back to Azeez taking Big E to the outside. Sami Zayn is on commentary. Azeez slams Big E on the floor outside as we go to a commercial.
Back from the break, Azeez is wearing down Big E in the ring. Suplex by Azeez as he continues to dominate Big E. He sends Big E to the corner where the beat down continues. Azeez with another suplex. Azeez misses an elbow drop and Crews tags in. Crews knocks Owens off the apron. Crews with a step up enziguri to Big E and they go to the apron. Crews wants the Death Valley Driver but Big E counters and front face suplexes Crews on the apron. Big E tags Owens. Owens hits a SWANTON!! 1....2....NO!! Owens lifts Crews but Crews elbows his way free. Owens runs into a boot but then CREWS RUNS INTO A POP UP POWER BOMB!!! 1.....2......NO!! Azeez was slow getting there but Crews kicked out. Azeez pulls Crews to the corner and tags himself in. He wipes out Big E on the outside. Owens meets him on the apron with punches. Head butt by Azeez. They battle to the outside. Azeez sends Owens face first into the ring post. Zayn talks trash to Owens and teases attacking. OWENS GETS IN THE RING AND WALKS INTO A NIGERIAN NAIL FROM AZEEZ TO FINISH IT!!

Post match, Azeez hits Owens with another Nigerian Nail. Sami Zayn gets to the gorilla area and he tells Kayla Braxton to watch what happened to Kevin Owens on the monitor. Zayn laughs and says he can do this forever.
A video package hypes Nakamura vs. Corbin. It's next!
Kevin Owens to talk to Adam Pearce and Sonya Deville. He wants a match against Sami Zayn at Hell in a Cell. They give it to him!
Battle for the Crown
Shinsuke Nakamura w/ Rick Boogs vs. King Corbin
Another severe weather delay for me so sorry about the lack of information on this match. Corbin tries a roll up right away followed by a knee to the gut. Nakamura avoids a charge by Corbin and hits Corbin with a slingshot German suplex! We go to a commercial break.
We're back with Corbin working over Nakamura with elbows and then a chin lock. Nakamura fights back but runs into a Deep Six!! Near fall for Corbin. Corbin with punches as he talks trash. Nakamura is able to counter and hit a back stabber before going to a sleeper. Corbin is up but Nakamura hits him with a Shining Wizard for a near fall. Corbin blocks a kick and hits a German. Nakamura builds momentum. He wants a Kinshasa but runs into a lariat from Corbin. Corbin yells about the crown and puts Nakamura on the top. Nakamura fights back with strikes and a kick to the head. Nakamura hits a flying knee from the second rope! Another one! Nakamura goes for a third but Corbin catches him. Corbin wants a choke slam but Nakamura HITS A KNEE TO THE HEAD! NAKAMURA FINISHES THINS WITH A KINSHASA!!

Post match, Nakamura sits on a throne and Boogs crowns him. Corbin pouts in the ring.
WWE Smackdown Women's Champion Bianca Belair is walking backstage. She and Bayley will have a confrontation after a commercial.
Bianca Belair makes her way to the ring. We get a recap of last week. Belair says it felt good to laugh at Bayley. Belair tries to get Bayley to come out but she doesn't. Belair claims she doesn't care and no more games can phase her. Belair knows Bayley will bring it at Hell in a Cell so she wants to face Bayley in a hell in a cell match! Belair talks about what she'll do to Bayley inside the cell and claims that when the match is over she will still be champion and Bayley won't be laughing then. BAYLEY'S MUSIC HITS! She comes down to the ring and THEY BRAWL!! Bayley ends up getting the upper hand and HITS BELAIR WITH A ROSE PLANT. Bayley holds the title up and all the screens in the crowd switch to her holding the title as well.
We get a recap of the Reigns/Uso saga from last week. Reigns is backstage preparing for the cell match when Jimmy comes. Jimmy thought about what Reigns said and thinks Reigns was right about them representing by being the best. Jimmy says he may not always agree with Reigns but they're blood. Reigns wants to know where Jey is. Jimmy hasn't heard anything all week from him. Jimmy says he's there for Reigns if Reigns needs him tonight. Reigns says he needs him to find Jey because they need him. The family is best when together. Reigns says he'll handle the business in the ring but he wants Jimmy to find Jey.
Alpha Academy heads to the ring. Otis will face Dawkins next!
Otis w/ Chad Gable vs. Angelo Dawkins
Commentary tells us that Montez Ford isn't here. The ref tries to get Gable out of the ring and Gable slaps Dawkins! Dawkins chases Gable around but runs into an Otis clothesline. Dawkins gets sent into the steps outside. Back in the ring, Gable and Otis hit a lariat/German combo on Dawkins. That was sick looking! It appears the match isn't happening.
Backstage, Rey Mysterio is saying a prayer before the cell match. Commentary reminds us for the thousandth time that this is his first ever cell match. We head to a commercial.
We get a recap of Rollins/Cesaro adventures. Kayla Braxton is backstage with Cesaro. Kayla asks Cesaro is this rivalry with Rollins has gone too far and Cesaro says it hasn't gone far enough. Cesaro talks about how Rollins stomped him on the ramp. Cesaro says how hard he's worked and Rollins has tried to take it all from him. ROLLINS IS HERE NOW! Rollins says he's not here to fight and says they'll do that on Sunday. Rollins gets Kayla's mic. Cesaro and Rollins stare each other down. Rollins says Cesaro doesn't deserve any respect after what he did last week and he'll put Cesaro in his place on Sunday. Cesaro didn't think Rollins had it in him to face him one-on-one again. Cesaro respects that and respects Rollins as a competitor. Cesaro gently shoves Rollins in his chair.
Back at ringside, the cell is lowering for the main event. Rey makes his way out to the ring for the main event. It's next!
Hell in a Cell Match for the WWE Universal Championship
Rey Mysterio (WWE Smackdown Tag Team Champion) vs. Roman Reigns (champ)
Rey immediately goes to get a chair and uses it on Reigns before Reigns catches and tosses it. Rey gets a fire extinguisher and hoses down Reigns before hitting him with it. Rey hits him with it again and we go back into the ring. Reigns gets tied up in the ropes and Rey with some shots to the arm before getting a tool box. Rey blasts Reigns in the head with the toolbox as we go to a commercial.
We're back with Rey using a chair on Reigns. With Reigns sitting on the apron, Rey drops kicks the chair into Reigns' back! Rey chokes Reigns with the chair on the apron. Rey puts the CHAIR AROUND REIGNS' NECK AND SLAMS HIM INTO THE CELL MULTIPLE TIMES!! Once into the ring post as well. Reigns fights back with a head butt and takes down Rey. Rey avoids a spear from Reigns and Reigns goes through a table that was setup in the corner of the cell. Reigns with strikes now before sending Rey back into the ring. Rey with some kicks to Reigns' leg as he's trying to get in the ring. Rey attempts a sunset flip power bomb but Reigns avoids that and punches Rey in the face. Reigns wants a power bomb but Rey blocks and tries a rana. Reigns blocks the rana and sends Rey into the cell wall a few times. Reigns sends Rey face first into the cell as we go to a break.
Back from the break, we're in the ring with Reigns trash talking Rey. Reigns beats on Rey in the corner before tossing him across the ring. SUPERMAN PUNCH by Reigns as he talks more trash. Reigns wants the spear but Rey counters with a kick and a rana. 619 BY REY!! REY BEATS THE HELL OUT OF REIGNS WITH A CHAIR!! Rey puts a chair across Reigns and goes to the top. REY HITS REIGNS WITH A FROG SPLASH ONTO THE CHAIR!! Rey can't make the cover though. REY CLIMBS AGAIN AND HITS A SECOND FROG SPLASH!!! 1.....2.....NO!!! Good drama there!! Rey heads to the top rope again and tries a flying rana but Reigns catches him! REIGNS LAUNCHES REY OVER THE TOP INTO THE CELL!! Just like he launched Dominik! Back in the ring, REIGNS CRANKS ON THE NECK OF REY WITH AN INVERTED GUILLTOTINE!!! REY TAPS!!!

Post match, Reigns celebrates and Jimmy comes to the ring. Jimmy holds up Reigns hand and they stare down Rey. Reigns hands Heyman the championship and stalks Rey. REIGNS LOCKS REY IN THE GUILLOTINE AGAIN!! REY TAPS MORE BEFORE REIGNS TOSSES HIM TO THE MAT!! Reigns holds up the title and talks trash to Rey to end the show wishing him a happy Father's Day!
