Here‘s what on tap for tonight’s Smackdown:
Contract signing between Sheamus and Jeff Hardy for their Backlash match.
WWE Universal champion Braun Strowman and Heavy Machinery face Dolph Ziggler, John Morrison, and The Miz in a six man tag team match.
AJ Styles takes faces Daniel Bryan in the finals of the tournament to crown the new WWE Intercontinental champion.
We open the show with a recap of the Jeff Hardy and Sheamus saga.
Renee Young is in the ring to moderate the contract signing between Jeff Hardy and Sheamus. Sheamus comes out to the ring with a doctor and security. Sheamus has a curtain for privacy set up in the ring because he wants Jeff to take a urine test. Sheamus is paying the doctor for immediately results. Jeff pees in a cup as he is verbally harassed by Sheamus. The doctor tests a sample and Jeff tells Sheamus "It's better to be pissed off than pissed on" and throws the rest of the urine sample in Sheamus' face!!
Edge vs. Randy Orton Backlash video hyping their match.
Backstage, Sheamus is gargling mouth wash and the doctor lets Sheamus know that Jeff Hardy tested negative.
Cesaro and Shinsuke Nakamura defeated WWE Smackdown Tag Team champions the New Day in a non-title tag team match.
Otis and Tucker talk backstage. Tucker says tonight could be Otis' night to cash in. Mandy Rose comes in and gives Otis a good luck kiss. Off to the side, Jeff Hardy and Sheamus are brawling until a bunch of people come to break them up.
Video package airs of Corey Graves talking about the importance of the WWE Intercontinental championship.
AJ Styles defeated Daniel Bryan with a Phenomenal Forearm after a Styles Clash to win the WWE Intercontinental championship!!! This was long but an amazing match!!! I'd give it four stars. Good luck to Edge/Orton following that Sunday. Post match, Renee Young interviews AJ and he says he's the best champion WWE has ever seen and he's...PHENOMENAL!!
Highlights of John Morrison and The Miz pranking Braun Strowman last week.
Braun Strowman promo backstage saying he will destroy Morrison and Miz at Backlash. He says if Otis and Tucker try anything funny tonight, he'll destroy them too because he's not it the mood.
Highlights of Bayley and Sasha Banks winning the WWE Women's Tag Team championships last Friday. The ring is decorated with balloons. Banks and Bayley are out now for their celebration. They take a selfie with Michael Cole on the way to the ring. After bragging, they're interrupted by Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross. The IIconics also interrupt by showing up via satellite. Alexa and Nikki attack Banks and Bayley and the champs retreat,
Kayla Braxton interviews John Morrison and The Miz. They made a music video for Strowman. It gets cut short thank goodness and Strowman makes his way to the ring for the main event.

Mid-match, King Corbin is shown backstage talking to Mandy Rose about Otis stealing his crown. Corbin tells Mandy if she wants to be with a man of power, then she should want him. Otis runs to the back to attack Corbin. This left the match 2-on-3. Otis eventually comes back out and brings Mandy with him.
Otis, Tucker, and WWE Universal champion Braun Strowman defeat John Morrison, The Miz, and Dolph Ziggler when Otis pins Ziggler after the Caterpillar! The faces with Mandy stand tall to end the show.
