Pay-Per-View and Championship News

Updated: May 16, 2020

There's been lots of pay-per-view and championship news so far this week. This is what's going on:

- Big news out of Raw was that Becky Lynch relinquished her WWE Raw Women's Championship due to pregnancy. Asuka is now the champion since she won the women's Money in the Bank match.

_ Randy Orton laid down the challenge to have a one-on-one wrestling match with Edge at Backlash. Edge is yet to accept as of this writing. Maybe we'll hear something from Edge this Monday. Backlash takes place Sunday, June 14th.

- On WWE Backstage Tuesday night, it was announced that Sami Zayn was stripped of the WWE Intercontinental Championship due to not being able to compete. A tournament will start on Smackdown (5/15) to crown a new champion. As of now, we don't know the participants for the tournament.

- NXT kicked off on Wednesday with new NXT Tag Team Champions. Imperium defeated Matt Riddle and Timothy Thatcher when Thatcher walked out on Riddle.

- DX announced that NXT Takeover: In Your House will take place Sunday, June 7th. Unbeknownst to most, this Wednesday was the 25th anniversary of the first In Your House event that took place in the mid 1990s.
