Welcome to the first event of year three of Our 3 Cents where myself, Jesse, and Lonnie give you our predictions on what's going to go down. This card feels a little underwhelming with lots of WrestleMania rematches and only one championship match. Hopefully they can surprise us with a good event. Without further to do......
John: 0-0 (0%)
Lonnie: 0-0 (0%)
Jesse: 0-0 (0%)
Let's take a look at the card:
Happy Corbin vs. Madcap Moss
Jesse: Happy Corbin can do no wrong. He is a company man through and through and one day deserves to be in the main event picture. He is entertaining, safe in the ring and can carry a feud, especially this one. Happy Corbin wins but I’m sure this will lead to more matches between the two of them.
W: Happy Corbin
Lonnie: Madcap should win here for several reasons. 1. Corbin is an established guy and can afford to lose. 2. A Madcap win could help send him to the IC title picture. 3. This is the most important reason - A Corbin loss could make him no longer happy and send him into another spiral and bring back Bum Corbin that I loved so much!!! Ultimately if they want to pull the trigger and push Moss he needs to win here. Therefore this match should show us a lot about how much they value him.
W: Madcap Moss
John: This is a tough call for me and I think it could go either way. I do think that Moss needs the win more. Corbin is a great heel and he would rebound better from a loss in my opinion. If WWE is serious about Moss, I think he needs the win here but neither results would surprise me.
W: Madcap Moss
Bobby Lashley vs. Omos w/ MVP
Jesse: Why is Omos still around? I know Vince loves big guys, but why him? I just hope we get a decent match, but Omos is going to win thanks to the help from MVP.
Lonnie: Of all the WrestleMania matches to get a rematch, I was hoping this wouldn’t be one of them. Would much rather get more Sami vs. Knoxville!!! Lashley already beat the invincible Omos once and I just don’t think he will do it again. If Omos loses with MVP at his side then it is literally the end of his character/career. I mean where would he go from there if he lost again? Omos wins here even though no one wants him to.
John: The Mania rematch that absolutely no one wanted. I guess it was wishful thinking when I thought Lashley had finished Omos at Mania. Then we get the MVP turn. The positive is we don't have to hear Omos talk. If Omos loses here, he's going to be on the future endeavored list. With MVP's guidance, I see Omos getting the win here. My only request is that this feud ends here.
AJ Styles vs. Edge
Damian Priest is banned from ringside
Jesse: I am glad that Edge was able to come back and continue his in-ring career, but this heel character of his is not doing it for me. If he wanted to get over as a heel I think he needs to be a leader of the Brood style character, not what feels like a villain in High School Musical. With that being said, I am all for a stable of AJ and Finn. Bullet Club has changed the scene of Professional Wrestling and it is time that WWE took advantage of that. Put them together, make some amazing T-Shirts and WWE will be printing money. With that said, Edge is going to win this after a 3rd member of his team comes out and helps him, and I feel like that will be Rhea.
Lonnie: I love the new direction of Edge’s character and I love that he is starting a group that will hopefully help some younger/lower level talent move up in stature. As far as this match itself, it should be good as Styles always delivers......But I have to say many of Edge’s recent matches just go on longer than they should. If they keep this match a little shorter it should be good. Having Priest banned from ringside leads me to believe someone new will screw AJ and join Edge.
John: I thought their WM match was good but could of been better. Edge got the better of Styles with some help from Priest but Priest won't be available this time. One would think that would give Styles the upper hand which he hasn't had at all in this feud. However, I think a third party will emerge to cost Styles again and Edge's faction will gain a new member. I think we could see Balor here and maybe even a heel turn but I'm just not sure. Edge gets the win here as Styles is still out for revenge.
Cody Rhode vs. Seth Rollins
Jesse: There was a lot of great moments at WrestleMania, but my favorite match by far was this match. I am a fan of AEW, but Cody’s whole run there just felt out of place, so when he didn’t re-sign I was surprised, but when he came out at WM it just felt right. He belongs in WWE and they are hopefully going to make him a star (no pun intended). I hope they give this match all the time it needs cause they both can deliver. I can see Seth winning hopefully setting up a rubber match in Hell in a Cell.
W: Seth Rollins
Lonnie: On an event where we are getting Mania rematches, at least this is one of them as it was one of the better matches from Mania. It also makes sense that Seth deserves a rematch since he didn’t know who he was going to be facing last time. I expect another good match from these guys with Rhodes winning. I feel they are setting Cody up to fight Roman at Summerslam and they should keep building him up here.
W: Cody Rhodes
John: Their Mania match delivered big time and was the best Rhodes match I've ever seen. Is Rhode that much better now or does he have Rollins to thank? Rollins had a case for a rematch since he didn't know Rhodes was going to be his opponent at WM. Rollins would have no excuse this time. Which is why I feel he needs the win more. Rhodes has been hot since returning but I don't think a loss here would derail him if done correctly. With Hell in a Cell around the corner, I'm going with Rollins here and expect to see them for part three in the cell.
W: Seth Rollins
"I Quit" Match for the WWE Smackdown Women's Championship
Charlotte Flair (champ) vs. Ronda Rousey
Jesse: This feud is bad, and I mean really bad. Ronda obviously needs to win and hopefully moves onto something else.
W: Ronda Rousey
Lonnie: I was hoping these two were going to be 1 match and done, but I am not that lucky. Booking this match as an "I Quit" match was a bad idea. If Ronda’s first 2 big matches end in 1. A fluke loss then 2. Saying "I Quit" then she will literally have looked like a fool and then weak back to back. To protect Ronda and freshen up the title picture she has to win here.
W: Ronda Rousey
John: Shame on me for thinking Rousey was a sure win at Mania. How could I forget who we're dealing with here. It's Charlotte Flair! She got the win via some shenanigans but let's be real, their WM match wasn't good. Now they've booked themselves into a corner with this stipulation. Rousey looks awful if she quits here and if she does, she might as well just leave WWE. Rousey has to win this and I'm sure it'll be in such a way that Charlotte will get a rematch just because that's what she does because she can't move out of the title picture. Seriously, when is the last time Charlotte had a non-title feud? Ever? I'm done with my rant. Rousey for the win.
W: Ronda Rousey
Six Man Tag Team Match
RK-Bro & Drew McIntyre vs. The Bloodline
Jesse: Not going to lie, this is a very unique storyline that I don’t mind crossing both Raw and Smackdown. I have been waiting for Drew to feud with Roman, and I hope he eventually takes one of the titles off him since Roman just seems to be defending the title/titles with the flavor of the month. RK-Bro vs Uso’s feud is just blah to me since it kills the momentum of any other tag team in WWE. RK-Bro & Drew win this match in order to set up Drew winning one of the main event titles in the next month or so.
W: RK-Bro & Drew McIntyre
Lonnie: This one is easy.......never pick against Roman. That being said, suggesting a unification of the tag titles then not doing it was a let down in booking. Because of that neither tag title is on the line and Roman isn’t defending his championship(s) either. I expect the Bloodline to win but I hope it is done in a way that the tag title unification is set up to still happen.
W: The Bloodline
John: What have we learned over the past 600 plus days? Never ever bet against Roman Reigns these days. Despite this being for none of the championships, everything in WWE now days revolves around the Bloodline. Sure, the faces could get the win and make claim for a title shot but I refuse to pick against the Head of the Table until I have a strong reason. Let's hope this is a wild brawl that over delivers because all six of these guys can go.
W: The Bloodline
