Our 3 Cents - WrestleMania 37 Night 1 & 2

Welcome back to another edition of Our 3 Cents where myself, Jesse, and Lonnie give you our predictions on what's going to go down. This is our final set of predictions for the 2020-2021 year. Let's see how the standings look.

John: 83-31-1 (72%)

Jesse: 78-36-1 (68%)

Lonnie: 76-38-1 (66%)

It's the biggest show of the year!! Let's take a look at the card:

Night 1

#1 Contender's Women's Tag Team Turmoil

Lana & Naomi vs. Mandy Rose & Dana Brooke vs. The Riott Squad vs. Billie Kay & Carmella vs. Natalya & Tamina

Jesse: Well glad they can do a women’s tag team match but Bayley couldn’t have a match on the card. This will probably be a snooze fest but Billie Kay should have some good moments. I see Lana and Naomi winning.

W: Lana & Naomi

Lonnie: Without a battle royal I understand trying to get more women on the card one way or another but I fear this match is going to be a disaster. Whoever wins here should lose the title match unless Nia or Shayna turn on the other. I really had no idea who to pick here until Smackdown this week. Seems like Tamina and Natalya will most likely win here.

W: Natalya & Tamina

John: I actually like having this match on the card over doing a battle royal. At least the winner of this will earn something. Natalya and Tamina dominated on Smackdown which usually foreshadows that they won't be winning. I don't think Carmella and Billie Kay will stay a team after this. Between the other three, I'm between the Riott Squad and Lana/Naomi. My personal preference is the Riott Squad but WWE is this infatuation with Lana so I'm picking her and Naomi to get the win.

W: Lana & Naomi

WWE Raw Tag Team Championship Match

AJ Styles & Omos vs. The New Day (champs)

Jesse: Omos finally gets to make his debut on the grandest stage of them all. Am I happy AJ is in a tag match at Mania? No? Will this match still be good? Yes! I see AJ and Omos winning so AJ can complete his grand slam.

W: AJ Styles & Omos

Lonnie: I have to admit that I am very disappointed that this is how they decided to use AJ Styles at WrestleMania. He’s one of the best wrestlers in the world and should be doing something more important. That said, he is competing against the New Day. When you think WWE tag team wrestling the last 5 years you think of the New Day. In this match I feel that Omos needs a win. He is the unproven one in this match and if they want him to stay around I feel like him and AJ should win. The New Day can lose forever and the fans would still love them.

W: AJ Styles & Omos

John: A couple points I'd like to face first. Using Styles like this at Mania is borderline criminal. He hasn't been used well since his short feud against McIntyre. I also feel like the New Day shouldn't have beaten the Hurt Business for the tag gold. However, here we are. Omos is making his debut and Styles is looking to become a grand slam champion (which is something he should do). It appears the New Day have won the gold to basically be transitional champs. The New Day will always be over so I'd like to see Styles and Omos squash them in dominating fashion. Styles and Omos should at least be able to add something to the tag division for a couple months.

W: AJ Styles & Omos

Damian Priest & Bad Bunny vs. The Miz & John Morrison

Jesse: I have to admit, I have been sports entertained by this feud. I mean they “painted” a Bugatti for gods sake. If the rumors are true of Bunny training at the performance center this might be an entertaining match with Bunny and Priest pulling out a win

W: Damian Priest & Bad Bunny

Lonnie: One of my WrestleMania rules is to never pick against the celebrity. I am sure they don’t, but I feel like they always win. (Maybe John can tell us celebrities' WrestleMania record? Especially in the last 10 years) For all of our sake lets hope this is short. I will say that adding Priest to this match this week was a welcome change as it should make it more watchable.

W: Damian Priest & Bad Bunny

John: Oh how The Miz has fallen. He's gone from WWE Champion to Bad Bunny in a month. At least he's still getting mainstream attention since Bunny is a celebrity. What do Mr. T, Lawrence Taylor, Floyd Mayweather, Akebono, Snooki, and Maria Menounos have in common? They are all celebrties that won at Mania. I expect Bunny to join that list. I'm just glad they made this a tag match so hopefully Priest can get a rub from it.

W: Damian Priest & Bad Bunny

Steel Cage Match

Braun Strowman vs. Shane McMahon

Jesse: Stupid, stupid, stupid storyline for this feud. I am not looking forward to this match at all. Braun will do monster things, Shane will jump off the top of the cage, then Braun will win a snooze of a cage match.

W: Braun Strowman

Lonnie: What does Shane do in big matches? He always seems to take a nasty bump and I assume he will here as well. The question for me is, does Braun launch Shane off the cage and actually end up losing the match? Lord I hope not. If they want Braun to do anything significant in the next few months, he needs to destroy Shane and move on from this awful storyline.

W: Braun Strowman

John: This is my least anticipated match for both nights. I haven't liked anything about this and I don't like the cage stipulation. Here's to hoping Strowman dominates this and it lasts less than 10 minutes. Per usual, expect Shane to try something crazy because it is WrestleMania after all. Braun better not launch Shane to victory like he did Kevin Owens in their cage match. Braun teased moving on to the WWE Championship after this so he better win.

W: Braun Strowman

Cesaro vs. Seth Rollins

Jesse: This has match of WrestleMania written all over it. I have really enjoyed the build to this match, and we know both these guys can burn it down in the ring. I hope they give them time to set up a classic match that will be talked about for a while, but knowing WWE we will get a funky finish. Seth wins.

W: Seth Rollins

Lonnie: If you are truly a wrestling fan you have to be excited for this match. The in ring talent of these two should lead to a great match. I’m not sure if it was Seth’s idea or someone else’s, but using him the last few months with Cesaro and Nakamura has been brilliant. Using the “waste of potential” storyline with Cesaro is great as deep down we all know it’s true and this seems to be the storyline that will bring him to the next level. Seth does not need a win here and a clean Cesaro win over Seth here could do wonders for the trajectory of his next year.

W: Cesaro

John: This should be great! Can we please give these guys 15-20 minutes? Is that asking too much because no one will regret it if you do. This whole storyline has felt real because everything Rollins has said about Cesaro is true. Let's face the facts, it's now or never for Cesaro and I probably sound like a broken record saying that. Although it would be odd for Rollins to lose at two straight WrestleManias given his record, I think Cesaro needs the win more. It's time to pull the trigger!

W: Cesaro

WWE Smackdown Women's Championship Match

Bianca Belair vs. Sasha Banks (champ)

Jesse: Here is another match I didn’t enjoy the build of when they got any time on Smackdown. I have enjoyed Sasha’s title reign so far and I think she will give it her all in this match. Bianca's time is coming but is it now? I have gone back and forth on who to pick so I am going to go with my heart, Bianca.

W: Bianca Belair

Lonnie: I know my expectations for this match are sky high. You have two of the best women in the business in the championship match at WrestleMania. This is the newcomer, the Royal Rumble winner getting her first shot at gold. While the weekly build has not been as great as I would have hoped, there is nothing they could do to make me not excited about this match. I can’t wait for these ladies to tear the house down and for Belair to show us she is the EST and have her WrestleMania moment.

W: Bianca Belair

John: These ladies managed to get the main event spot for night one. So by default, it'll be compared to Lynch/Flair/Rousey in the future which adds some pressure but I think they are capable of delivering. I could be in the minority but I really haven't been impressed with Banks championship reign. I'm not saying she's not great because she definitely is. What has she done though since she had some solid matches with Carmella? Meanwhile, Belair is currently on the biggest run of her career coming off of an impressive Rumble performance. Belair should win this and finally reach that "next level".

W: Bianca Belair

WWE Championship Match

Drew McIntyre vs. Bobby Lashley (champ)

Jesse: I hate that they broke up the Hurt Business for this match. This is a prime example of WWE not being able to get out of their own way. Lashley is a great champ, and would be entertaining and bring in ratings but they are going to give the title back to Drew so he can have his moment in front of the fans then go on to have more lackluster storylines and sell his book. I’m very sad that I have to pick Drew to win the title for the 3rd time in a year.

W: Drew McIntyre

Lonnie: When Lashley returned to WWE and ended up in a storyline with Lana I felt bad for the man. It felt like there was wasted potential and that he was never going to take it to the next level. Boy how wrong I was to think that. Bobby Lashley’s transformation the last 6 months or so has been one of the shining spots for WWE. I love that he became champ without beating Drew and kept this match fresh for Mania. Over the last year Drew carried Raw and I don’t think we should forget that. Drew did not get his moment last year due to Covid and deep down I feel like they are going to have him win here as a thank you for all he did to carry the company the past year. If I am wrong, I would be ok with that as I feel both of these men are very deserving of a victory here.

W: Drew McIntyre

John: In a weird way this match is kind of a shame because I hate to see either guy lose. Lashley has been great since last fall and McIntyre has helped carry Raw through the whole pandemic. I think WWE could get a lot more mileage out of Lashley's run as champion but I think it's going to get cut short in favor of giving McIntyre this WrestleMania moment that he didn't get last year (but I feel he does deserve). I love that this is the opening match because I feel no one deserves to walk out in the live audience before McIntyre. I expect a great match of two big men beating the hell out of each other and McIntyre claims the throne with a Claymore.

W: Drew McIntyre

Night 2

WWE Women's Tag Team Championship Match

Tag Team Turmoil Winners from Night 1 vs. Nia Jax & Shayna Baszler (champs)

Jesse: Going to keep this short, Lana gets her payback and wins.

W: Lana & Naomi

Lonnie: The champs should retain. All the other teams are awful. It’s that simple, unless they want to be dumb and have Natalya and Tamina win just because they have been around forever.

W: Nia Jax & Shayna Baszler

John: I'm pulling for new champions simply because I don't want Nia and Shayna to be a tag team anymore. I just feel it's run it's course. So, here's to hoping one of them turns on the other or maybe Reginald will accidentally cost them the match which will spark the break up. Since I picked Lana and Naomi for tag team turmoil, I got them to win this.

W: Lana & Naomi

WWE United States Championship Match

Sheamus vs. Riddle (champ)

Jesse: This match might have sneaky potential to be a great match. Sheamus has brought it the last few months and I really appreciate his new found passion. Riddle has been a great champ, but this is his biggest roadblock. I think Sheamus wins as a thank you for the hard work he has been putting in.

W: Sheamus

Lonnie: It has been very nice to see the veteran Sheamus be awesome the last few months in his interactions with Drew. He has been great and deserves a WrestleMania match. Riddle has also been good as US Champion and I’m glad to see him stay relevant after coming to the main roster as many struggle with the transition. You know these two are going to beat the tar out of each other. It’s going to hurt me to just watch it. In the end I think Riddle wins and gets the rub from the old veteran.

W: Riddle

John: How great has Sheamus been the past couple months? He's having some of the best matches on Raw and his brawls with McIntyre have been great. Riddle is coming into his own on Raw and I feel like this two can have a sleeper match that could be great. Sheamus has gotten the better of Riddle throughout this feud to this point so I think Riddle pulls out a win to retain. The feud could easily continue though.

W: Riddle

Nigerian Drum Fight for the WWE Intercontinental Championship

Apollo Crews vs. Big E (champ)

Jesse: Here is another storyline that I have been really enjoying. Apollo’s heel turn has been magnificent and he has been the Joker to Big E’s Batman. I think Apollo finally pulls off the victory here as I see Big E getting pushed to the main event picture and possibly a Money in the Bank win.

W: Apollo Crews

Lonnie: I really thought Apollo was going to win at Fastlane and he let me down in quick fashion. I think the second time will be the charm for Apollo. They have continued to build him and his new gimmick up over the past few weeks. Also, I have no idea what a Nigerian Drum Fight is but we can only hope that it is similar to the Duchess of Queensbury rules match and allows Apollo to become champion here.

W: Apollo Crews

John: So what is a Nigerian Drum Fight? I'm not sure if we'll find out before the match begins. Regardless, it sounds something like a street fight which is fitting because this is one of the feuds on the card with some real aggression to it. Big E is going to be played to the ring by WALE. If memory serves me correct, most guys that get played to the ring at Mania lose for some reason. I could see either man winning but I think Apollo could use it more. Big E can hopefully be sent up the card and Apollo can have a good run with the championship.

W: Apollo Crews

Sami Zayn vs. Kevin Owens

Jesse: How awesome would it be to have the opportunity to wrestle your best friend at WrestleMania? This is probably one of the matches I am looking forward to the most as both these guys will give it everything they have got. I see KO jumping off the pirate ship then stunning Sami into last year.

W: Kevin Owens

Lonnie: I know these two have a long history and good chemistry but this match feels like lazy booking to get them both on the card. They have fought so many times that I’m really not sure who should win here. I expect this match to involve shenanigans with Paul involved and be more story than a quality match. Since Sami has the celebrity on his side I’m going to pick him.

W: Sami Zayn

John: I love both of these guys and it makes me happy to know that they're probably stoked to be facing each other at Mania since they've been friends forever. I have no doubt that these guys are capable of delivering a banger. Part of me wishes Logan Paul wasn't involved as I don't think it's necessary. However, he is and it brings mainstream attention to the match. In the end, I think Paul will screw Sami allowing KO to win which will only further the conspiracy theories.

W: Kevin Owens

WWE Raw Women's Championship Match

Rhea Ripley vs. Asuka (champ)

Jesse: Just like the smackdown women's title match, here is a young star facing a veteran. Rhea’s time as a superstar is coming, and I really enjoy her style, but what does it say for the Raw women’s division if someone just called up from NXT wins the title at her first PPV? I sadly don’t see her winning, which would set up a reigning champ Asuka for a feud with a hopefully returning Becky Lynch.

W: Asuka

Lonnie: The Raw women’s division was stale as hell and getting a fresh face like Rhea Ripley was exactly what the doctor ordered. It seems that since Becky left WWE has had no idea what to do with Asuka. I am hoping that giving Asuka a quality opponent in Rhea will let her shine like we know she can. Asuka has been champ for a long time and I feel like a change is in order. Rhea should get the win here after losing to Charlotte in her last Mania match. Hopefully a heel Rhea brings a new dimension to a division that needs a shake up.

W: Rhea Ripley

John: Some may ask why Ripley was thrown into this championship match? Well, we have no Charlotte Flair or Becky Lynch, Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler are a team, and no other woman on the Raw roster has been built up for a championship match much less a Mania championship match. It's been some bad booking in my opinion. Ripley was the biggest name possible of who's left and it's at least a fresh match up. I'm intrigued to see how this goes but I think Ripley gets her WrestleMania moment that I feel she should of gotten last year.

W: Rhea Ripley

The Fiend vs. Randy Orton

Jesse: Bray Wyatt absolutely delivered last year with his cinematic match with Cena, so I expect the same this year. I really hope this isn’t an in-ring match because as we have seen, those aren’t the Fiend’s specialty. I just want to be sports entertained and not have to take it serious. I can see Fiend winning and getting payback on Orton for burning him to a crisp.

W: The Fiend

Lonnie: Just when you think Randy Orton has been around forever and you are tired of seeing him each week he pulls off a feud like this and you remember why he is one of the greatest superstars in WWE history. Randy, Bray, and Alexa have all brought their A game for months. In today’s WWE when the stories are not always the greatest we should appreciate what they have pulled off. They have taken advantage of no live crowd to pull off skits and surprises that would not have worked with a crowd. Regardless of exactly how this match plays out, I am very happy to have been watching this feud. In the end Randy could not kill the Fiend, and I do not see a way the Fiend loses here.

W: The Fiend

John: This is the feud that has felt like it's gone on forever. I feel that you either love this kind of thing or you have hated it and can't wait for it to be over. If you're able to suspend disbelief, you should be able to see it for what it is and be entertained. Bliss has been great in the this feud and really the glue that held it together for months. When it gets down to the match, Orton burned The Fiend alive! There's absolutely no way that The Fiend doesn't get revenge for that. This should be a short and sweet. I'd hate to use the word squash but The Fiend should dominate this.

W: The Fiend

Triple Threat Match for the WWE Universal Championship

Daniel Bryan vs. Edge vs. Roman Reigns (champ)

Jesse: Why in the world did they turn this into a triple threat? Isn’t the rumble winner suppose to have a one-on-one match for the title? I get Edge’s actions kind of messed it up, but it just seems like Bryan’s addition is just to eat the pin. Now don’t get me wrong, this match will be great, but it hurt the storyline by adding Bryan. I think Edge wins to conclude his redemption arc, but won’t be holding onto the title for very long.

W: Edge

Lonnie: I must start with a pet peeve of mine. Maybe I am just old and grouchy, but I wish the winner of the Royal Rumble would get a 1 on 1 match for the championship at WrestleMania. I just feel it devalues the Rumble when someone else can get into the match. If the reasoning is they didn’t think Edge at his age could hang with Roman then they should not have had him win the Rumble in the first place. Aside from my rant, I really do think Edge is one of the few people who has a legit shot at dethroning Roman. When it was one on one I was going to pick Edge. However in this triple threat I feel that Bryan is going to take the loss. I just cannot bring myself to pick Roman losing the championship in the main event without taking the loss. Roman wins here over Bryan and Edge gets his one on one match down the line. If given a solid 30-40 minutes these three can put on a hell of a match that we can all hope and pray reaches the level of WrestleMania 20.

W: Roman Reigns

John: I can make a guess for each of the three guys. Roman Reigns has been doing the best work of his career in my opinion. His long overdue heel turn has been the best thing WWE has done with him ever. Not to mention, his matches with Jey Uso, Kevin Owens, and Daniel Bryan have been nothing short of bangers. Edge is trying to complete the return and win back the title he technically never lost. For a man his age, Edge's performance in the Royal Rumble was impressive but he hasn't done much since that. At this point, I think it's fair to say that Edge's strengths are more of his promo work and not so much his ring work. It's not a dig, just what happens when you have that kind of time off and injury history. Daniel Bryan is trying to recapture the magic from WrestleMania XXX when he had the biggest night of his career. It's been teased that this is Bryan's last Mania so can he win the big one won more time. At first, I wasn't thrilled about this change to a triple threat but I don't think Bryan would of fit well into another match on the card. As much as I would love to see Reigns keep the gold, I feel it was made a triple threat match so he can lose without taking the loss. I expect this to be good but I think at the end of the day it will be Edge taking the championship after beating Bryan.

W: Edge
