Our 3 Cents - Money in the Bank 2021

Welcome to our second year of Our 3 Cents where myself, Jesse, and Lonnie give you our predictions on what's going to go down. We finally have LIVE fans back!! Hopefully WWE steps up their game for the fans because they will probably be pumped! Money in the Bank is usually a pretty good event. Without further to do....

John: 15-2 (88%)

Lonnie: 14-3 (82%)

Jesse: 13-4 (76%)

Let's take a look at the card:

WWE Smackdown Tag Team Championship Match (Kickoff Show)

The Usos vs. The Mysterios (champs)

Jesse: What in the world is this match doing on the Preshow? I thought the Head of the Table was going to get the Usos on the main card? It is what it is I guess, I don’t see the Mysterio’s dropping the titles so soon, but this might actually be a good match if they give it time. Mysterio’s win, but I don’t think this feud is over.

W: The Mysterios

Lonnie: At a certain point in the near future you would have to believe the Usos will become champions once again. I mean, if not, why would Roman continue to tolerate their failure? So I do think they will be champ soon but just not tonight. I feel them winning at Summerslam and then allowing them to end the night with all the championships at Summerslam would be the perfect time for that moment. I also feel letting the Mysterios have more time with the championships would not hurt. (And I wish it was not a factor but after Jimmy’s recent arrest, WWE may be hesitant to put a championship on him until his legal situation becomes more clear)

W: The Mysterios

John: I would say that this match could go either way but then Jimmy got a DUI. He might still be in some trouble and need to walk the line a little better if you know what I mean. I don't doubt that the Usos will eventually be champs but it's too soon. I think the fact that this is on the kickoff show also points to the Mysterios winning. Maybe Edge cost them? Either way, Mysterios for the win here.

W: The Mysterios

WWE Raw Tag Team Championship Match

The Viking Raiders vs. AJ Styles & Omos (champs)

Jesse: I am still baffled that the Raw ratings are going down the toilet and they put one of their top stars in a tag team. Between AJ and RKBRO, that’s 3 top guys that shouldn’t be locked up in the tag division. I can see RKBRO leading to a match between Orton and Riddle, but where does AJ and Omos go? They lose the tag titles then next time on Raw Omos just disappears or fades into the 24/7 title picture? Guess we will see because I think The Viking Raiders win this.

W: The Viking Raiders

Lonnie: It has been nice to see them actually build up a tag team match over the past few weeks. To me picking this match is based on which of two outcomes you think is needed. 1. The Raiders are a legit tag team and should win and free up Styles to do singles wrestling again. 2. Styles is good for Omos and they want to keep them champs to continue to build up Omos. I think it may be a risky pick but I feel we are getting new champs here. The Viking Raiders are one of the best tag teams on the roster and over with the fans. On the other hand, I think the fans are not going to be fans of Omos and the live crowds won’t be kind to him. Also, I just really want to see AJ do something more important now that fans are back.

W: The Viking Raiders

John: I've said before and I'll say again that I wish Styles was doing something more Styles worthy. However, he's been entertaining in this role. The Raiders are easily the best team on Raw to challenge them but I feel it may be too soon for them to win the titles. I'm interested to see how the live crowd reacts to Omos. He definitely needs Styles more than Styles needs him. I think Omos will get a chance to look dominant in front of a live crowd. How that goes over will ultimately determine how long their reign is. For now, I think the champs retain.

W: AJ Styles & Omos

Women's Money in the Bank Ladder Match

Zelina Vega vs. Asuka vs. Naomi vs. Alexa Bliss vs. Nikki A.S.H. vs. Liv Morgan vs. Natalya (WWE Women's Tag Team Champion) vs. Tamina (WWE Women's Tag Team Champion)

Jesse: What in the world is this cluster of a match? I’m not going to bore you and write out why I don’t think each one of these women is the right pick to win the briefcase, so I will tell you who I think is the only possibility out of them….Liv Morgan. They have built her up the last month, and I really enjoy her character and skills, but I’m not picking her. I think something will happen during the night and one of these competitors will not be able to compete, which will leave an open spot for who I believe will win……….THE MAN.

W: Becky Lynch

Lonnie: With Nikki getting a recent repackaging, Alexa always being championship worthy, and Zelina just returning I think one of those three will win. While I think Alexa would make the most sense and make for the best television, I am going with Zelina!!! She’s my favorite and every now and then you have to go with your heart and not your head. I feel that the only way she will ever be champ is by winning cheaply on a cash in. As a heel who is good on the mic it would fit her to carry around the briefcase as well.

W: Zelina Vega

John: I really have no idea on this. Without sounding rude, I'm ruling out Natalya and Tamina right off the get go since they are the tag champs. Asuka won last years and I can't see her winning again. Nikki's superhero gimmick is what it is. I don't think it's something that will last or be taken seriously for that matter. I don't think WWE has taken Naomi serious with anything for a couple years now. That's no fault of hers but that doesn't give her good chances. So, I'm between Vega, Bliss, and Morgan. Let's weigh the three options. Vega just returns and is a great natural heel. Based off her wrestling ability, her having the Money in the Bank could be the only realistic possible way she ever wins a championship. Her promos would be gold. Bliss is a former Money in the Bank winner but has completely revamped her character since then. You either love or hate the demonic Bliss character. I wouldn't be surprised to see her hypnotize someone one the top of the ladder who is about to win and make them fall off without touching them. Bliss could be the favorite in an otherwise weak field. Bliss with the briefcase would be interesting given her current character. Although it may not be a popular pick among fans. Lastly, I like Morgan in a dark horse spot. The crowd on Smackdown was behind her and she would be the emotional pick. I think a win for Morgan would do the most for her career more than any other woman in this match. I just don't have faith in WWE to pull the trigger. With that said, my heart says Liv Morgan is most deserving but Bliss will be the one to win it.

W: Alexa Bliss

Men's Money in the Bank Ladder Match

Kevin Owens vs. Drew McIntyre vs. Riddle vs. Ricochet vs. John Morrison vs. Big E vs. Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Seth Rollins

Jesse: This may be my favorite lineup for a MITB match ever. Just look at this list and think of the endless possibilities for scenarios in this match. There is going to be so much chaos and carnage I am going to have a smile on my face bigger than Seth’s in that hallway on Friday. Now getting down to picking a winner, Ricochet and Morrison aren’t going to win, they are just in it for the high-flying stuff. The others all have a realistic chance to win, so it is very hard to decide who I want to go with. With fans back and 2 heel champions right now, I think WWE is going to want a fan favorite to win, and who is the biggest fan favorite on the list and long overdue to be in the main event picture? That’s right, we are going to feel the power on Sunday with a Big E win.

W: Big E

Lonnie: Ricochet, Morrison, and Nakamura are in this match just to add entertainment value. I feel that WWE would not let Big E cash in to be champ. I know they teased him and Roman on Smackdown but I just do not see him being champ. He is more qualified than Otis, but it is a similar situation. Drew can get title shots without the briefcase and will be fighting Jinder for a while so he is out. Owens could win, but he has just been spinning his wheels the last several months and I just don’t feel the timing is right. That leaves Riddle and Rollins. Riddle has been great lately and I feel the live crowds are only going to make him a hotter commodity. I feel his character would be great for MITB and threatening to cash in. Rollins has been at the edge of the title picture on Smackdown and we can all feel him getting close to challenging Roman. I would personally like to see Riddle win as I think it would help him more, but I am going with Rollins. My thought here is this, rumor is that Roman will fight Cena at Summerslam. With Cena being part time we know Roman will win, but you can believably assume it will be a hell of a match and Roman barely survives. Rollins (pissed that he was passed over for the championship match) can then cash in and end Roman’s reign in front of a huge crowd at Summerslam. This would create a huge moment and freshen up Smackdown.

W: Seth Rollins

John: Has there ever been a more stacked MITB match? Maybe so but it's not coming to me at this moment. I see lots of possible winners here. Let's hash it out. Ricochet and Morrison are great high flyers but I don't see them in this match as anything more than being there for crazy bumps. Sorry guys. McIntyre has been in the WWE Championship picture for the better part of the last year and a half. It seems to soon for him to go back to it. However, he could win the briefcase and take it to Smackdown as a possibility. Riddle would be one of my personal favorites as he's been killing it on Raw. He'll have his day eventually but I think his immediate future is a collision course with Randy Orton after RKBRO splits. Now the Smackdown guys. Rollins has one it before and I don't it's necessary for him to win it again. It feels like a lazy move to me to give it to him. He should be able to get a championship match without it. I like Nakamura but he's been too preoccupied with this whole king gimmick lately. I see him continuing that and he feels like he would be more in the IC title picture at the moment. Owens has just been kind of floating in the mid card since he lost his feud with Reigns. Sure that could be revisited but they've already fought so much. Lastly, we got Big E. We got an interaction between he and Paul Heyman on Smackdown. That could potentially tease him winning and cashing in on Reigns. That wouldn't be bad and this could be the win that shoots Big E up the card after all the hard work over the years. I do in fact like Big E to win and that's who I'm going with. However, I'd rather see him jump to Raw and cash in on Lashley down the road. It would be a great way for Big E to stick it to Lashley after Lashley ran through Woods and Kofi.

W: Big E

WWE Raw Women's Championship Match

Charlotte Flair vs. Rhea Ripley (champ)

Jesse: I don’t really understand this feud, and I don’t really want too either. I think Rhea wins clean this time to hopefully put the feud to bed.

W: Rhea Ripley

Lonnie: Another PPV, another Charlotte championship match.......It’s as reliable as the sun coming up everyday. I think the best decision in this match would be for Rhea to get a big win in front of the live crowd and move on to fight someone else. She has not had the live crowd on the main roster except Mania and the crowd will be way behind her. But.....Realistically this feud is ending with Charlotte as champion as they need to get her one step closer to passing Ric. Charlotte is going to win the championship here or at Summerslam. With Sasha and potentially Becky coming back for Summerslam I feel they will want one of them fighting Charlotte for that major PPV and therefore poor Rhea is the next victim of Charlotte.

W: Charlotte Flair

John: If I've said it once, I've said it a million times. Ripley needs this win so much more than Charlotte. Although Ripley is the champ, she's been made to look inferior to Charlotte in my opinion. Charlotte needs to put over Ripley straight up with no shenanigans. They're more than capable of a great match as we saw at WrestleMania 36 with no fans. This is a chance to deliver again with a live audience this time and the result we should of had a year ago. If Ripley loses, all credibility is lost. Don't let me down WWE.

W: Rhea Ripley

WWE Championship Match

Kofi Kingston vs. Bobby Lashley (champ)

Jesse: I have actually been really impressed with Kofi during this storyline. He stands no chance of winning, but his promos have been on point. Hopefully after this feud is over, he can keep that momentum up in his next storyline. Lashley wins and heads to SummerSlam as champ.

W: Bobby Lashley

Lonnie: I am always happy to see Kofi get a title shot. Having Kofi and Woods get a few victories over Lashley doesn’t really hurt him and was needed to make it seem like Kofi has any chance of winning. That being said, with the end of Raw last week expect a pissed off Lashley to show up. Unfortunately, I do not think this will be a long match or the good match they are capable of having. With Lashley being rumored to fight Goldberg next, I feel they are going to try to make Lashley look like a monster here and destroy Kofi easily.

W: Bobby Lashley

John: Let me start by saying that Kofi has been great in this feud. However, I don't think for a second that he's walking out of this match with the championship. In fact, I think Lashley will destroy him. Lashley will be made to look like a beast as we head into SummerSlam. What's unfortunate is that Lashley's rumored SummerSlam opponent is Goldberg. I'm less than pleased about that especially since I'll be attending SummerSlam. In fact, I'm probably about as happy about that as Riddle is. Anyways......Lashley wins handedly.

W: Bobby Lashley

WWE Universal Championship Match

Edge vs. Roman Reigns (champ) w/ Paul Heyman

Jesse: I had a shower thought this morning that I should pick Seth to win the briefcase then have Edge win this match and immediately get cashed in on. I would absolutely love that, and would love to see the fans reaction, but sadly Edge isn’t going to win this match. Roman wins and then we can see who his opponent for Summerslam is, or maybe we won’t be able to see him???

W: Roman Reigns

Lonnie: I am pretty surprised we are getting a match of this magnitude (literally a WrestleMania main event) at MITB. It seems they want to have a hell of a show with the return of fans. Edge is the most credible threat to the championship this year and he has been made to look very strong the last few weeks. I think this will be a great match but in the end Roman will crank down on Edge’s “fragile neck” and make him pass out. I would not be surprised if Edge won, but I think the Roman/Cena rumor for Summerslam makes a Roman win more likely. My final thought is that I hope this match is not too long. If this is 18-25 minutes I think it can be great, but if it goes 30 or more I think it will hurt more than help.

W: Roman Reigns

John: I was shocked when this match unfolded for Money in the Bank. Part of me thought it would be saved for a bigger event. However, when you look around the Smackdown roster, who else was going to step up? It's a short list of who's available and credible. I think this will be great but I think there is too much for Edge to overcome. Reigns is the best he's ever been. Then you add the Usos who I'm sure will get involved. Then, I'd be surprised if Seth Rollins didn't get involved and cost Edge the match. After all, this was suppose to be Rollins opportunity if you ask him. Reigns wins here and moves on to the rumored Reigns/Cena match at SummerSlam while Edge/Rollins takes place as well.

W: Roman Reigns
