Our 3 Cents - Day 1 2022

Welcome to our second year of Our 3 Cents where myself, Jesse, and Lonnie give you our predictions on what's going to go down. For the first time ever, WWE is having a pay-per-view on New Year's Day. They appear to be putting forth a solid effort because we got a solid card for it. Without further to do......
John: 56-10 (85%)
Jesse: 48-18 (73%)
Lonnie: 48-18 (73%)
Let's take a look at the card:

Ricochet & Cesaro vs. Sheamus & Ridge Holland
Jesse: Well this match was added at the last minute, but it might actually be interesting if they give it time. I actually like the tag team of Cesaro and Ricochet, but I don’t see them winning. Look for this to potentially be match of the night.
W: Sheamus & Ridge Holland
Lonnie: I assume this match will end up on the kickoff show. That being said I assume the faces will win to get the crowd going to start the night.
W: Ricochet & Cesaro
John: Three solid workers here and Ridge Holland. The others should be able to make him look good. Sheamus/Holland have been a team since Holland came to Smackdown while Ricochet/Cesaro are just thrown together. WWE doesn't seem to have a problem making Ricochet and Cesaro continually lose because they're still over with crowd no matter what. The heels should pick up the win here.
W: Sheamus & Ridge Holland

Drew McIntyre vs. Madcap Moss
Jesse: Drew isn’t losing to someone named Madcap Moss. I imagine Drew will move up to the championship picture after this victory.
W: Drew McIntyre
Lonnie: I actually like Madcap Moss more than I probably should. I find him entertaining and a good compliment to Corbin. Now that I’ve been nice, let me say that he has no chance in hell of beating Drew. This is a mismatch and Drew will win here even with the predictable Corbin interference.
W: Drew McIntyre
John: Easiest pick of the night here. Absolutely no way McIntyre loses this match. This should be a nice squash with some Corbin shenanigans thrown in there.
W: Drew McIntyre

WWE Raw Tag Team Championship Match
RK-Bro (champs) vs. The Street Profits
Jesse: I have got to say, I absolutely love RK-Bro. Each week they bring something new to the table and have kept the tag division entertaining. With that being said, it is about time they split so they can go back to being excellent singles guys. That time isn’t now though, but it’s coming....
W: RK-Bro
Lonnie: I know I keep getting burned by picking against RK-Bro, but I’m going to do it once again. The Profits are one of the best teams in WWE and there is no shame in losing to them. I am just at the point where I feel RK-Bro needs to lose to allow them to move forward with a singles feud against each other.
W: The Street Profits
John: This card has two of the better tag team championship matches we have had in a long time on the same card. Both of these teams can go and neither team winning would surprise me. I think we may be heading for a RK-Bro split and the two of them having a match at Mania. I just don't see them losing the gold yet. We may see some miscommunication between them but I think at the end of the day, Ford leaps into a sick RKO for the finish.
W: RK-Bro

WWE Smackdown Tag Team Championship Match
The Usos (champs) vs. The New Day
Jesse: Hey look, this match has happened a million times before. At this point I wish both these teams would stay out of the title picture for a bit to give some new teams a chance. Uso’s win so they can keep the bloodline going.
W: The Usos
Lonnie: While the Usos are not quite on Roman level of dominance they are pretty damn close. They are the top tag team right now and until Roman loses his championship I don’t see the Usos losing. Per usual, these four should have an entertaining match if given a good amount of time. After this I hope the Smackdown tag title scene gets some fresh faces.
W: The Usos
John: The chemistry between these four has always been great so I have no doubt this will be a good match. I don't feel as though Woods king gimmick is best for being a tag champ as I have always associated King of the Ring with a solo run. Beyond that, the Usos are part of the Bloodline and they still have a stranglehold on Smackdown. I don't picture them losing in the near future.
W: The Usos

Edge vs. The Miz
Jesse: Anything Miz touches, it turns to gold. This has been an amazing feud and I don’t think it’s over, especially after that Brood wedding segment. I see Maryse getting involved in this and helping her husband win, which then summons Beth to come to Edge’s side and sets up a Rumble match.
W: The Miz
Lonnie: I continue to be happy to see Edge back and having featured matches. I can’t say the same for the Miz. I just feel like his character has been stale for a while now. This should be a classic case of feeding the Miz to Edge and letting Edge get a dominate victory so he can move onto something bigger and better.
W: Edge
John: I think this is the hardest match to pick. In my opinion, it depends if the feud is stopping after this match. If this is a one and done, I think Edge gets the win. If we're going to continue, Miz needs to get a cheap win. I wouldn't be shocked to see Beth Phoenix make an appearance to try to offset Maryse. Against my better judgment, I think some shenanigans leads to Miz getting the win and we get an Edge/Beth vs. Miz/Maryse mixed tag in the near future.
W: The Miz

WWE Raw Women's Championship Match
Becky Lynch (champ) vs. Liv Morgan
Jesse: I think Liv’s time to win the championship was a few Raw’s ago. Her momentum has sailed at this point, and I don’t see her winning the title unless they pull a Kane and have her win then lose it back to Becky on Raw. Don’t think that will happen, but this could be a decent match.
W: Becky Lynch
Lonnie: I think Liv will be a star and is definitely a future Women’s champion......But the future is not now. Unfortunately, WWE will not trust Liv at the most important moment of the year and therefore Becky and her star power will stay champion all the way to her WrestleMania match.
W: Becky Lynch
John: I feel as though this is now or never for Liv. I think it would be best for Liv to win the gold here even if she ends up dropping it back at the Rumble. Becky wouldn't be effected at all in a loss. However, I don't feel like WWE has it in them to pull the trigger which is a shame because this could be a star making opportunity for Liv to really put her over. We're heading into WrestleMania season and I think WWE sticks with Lynch since she's the big star.
W: Becky Lynch

Fatal Four Way Match for the WWE Championship
Big E (champ) vs. Seth Rollins vs. Kevin Owens vs. Bobby Lashley
Jesse: To the surprise of everyone, this match has been booked brilliantly. I can see any one of these guys winning, except maybe Lashley but you can do Steiner math on that. I don’t think Big E is retaining, so for me it comes down to Seth and KO. Seth is way better of a character if he is chasing the title, so I am going to go with KO pulling this one off.
W: Kevin Owens
Lonnie: I really like having a fatal four way here. This allows several top stars to be showcased and can set up multiple storylines heading into the Rumble. I don’t think it would make any sense to pull the plug on Big E’s title run here as I feel you have to trust him with the championship until at least the Rumble and when he does lose it, it should be one on one. I think the fatal four way rules will allow them to keep each man strong and get Mania season rolling.
W: Big E
John: For starters, I'm not convinced this match is going to stay a fatal four way with rumors that Rollins has Covid. The fact Lashley and Big E were kept off of Raw also poses cause for concern as well. With it being a fatal four way or triple threat, everyone should be able to be kept strong moving forward. Since I'm unsure of the participants, I think the safe bet is to stick with Big E as champ.
W: Big E

WWE Universal Championship Match
Roman Reigns (champ) vs. Brock Lesnar
Jesse: I’ll keep this short because as I have said before Roman’s reign is getting stale and we are going to see this match again at WrestleMania. I think Roman firing Heyman was a ploy and he will come back and double cross Brock in order for Roman to win and continue as champ.
W: Roman Reigns
Lonnie: This PPV could just be this match by itself and it would still be must see. These guys have been the best thing WWE has going and it’s not even close. A face Brock Lesnar has been so refreshing and has brought out the best in Roman. The wild card here is Paul Heyman. I believe we will see an appearance by Heyman with everyone in the arena expecting him to help Lesnar. Heyman, the ultimate heel will screw Lesnar and realign himself with his Tribal Chief allowing Roman to win. This will then lead to Lesnar finally getting his revenge at WrestleMania.
W: Roman Reigns
John: Does anyone else think this whole Paul Heyman getting fired by Reigns is a set up? I think that's how this is going to play out to get one over on Lesnar. I can even see Heyman showing up and appearing to be in Lesnar's corner only to turn on him in the end. I think Reigns picks up the win and Lesnar continues to chase.
W: Roman Reigns
