Our 3 Cents - Clash of Champions 2020

Welcome back to another edition of Our 3 Cents where myself, Jesse, and Lonnie give you our predictions on what's going to go down. This is the one night of the year when all championships from Raw and Smackdown must be defended. We have nine matches so without further to do, here's our current standings:

John: 34-11-1 (74%)

Jesse: 30-15-1 (65%)

Lonnie: 28-17-1 (62%)

Let's take a look at the card:

WWE Raw Women's Championship Match (Kickoff Show)

Zelina Vega vs. Asuka (champ)

Jesse: They are cheating this match by putting it on the kickoff show. Zelina is a great performer, and will put on a hell of a match with Asuka, but it’s a disservice being on the kickoff show. Asuka wins but hopefully this boosts Zelina into more singles feuds.

W: Asuka

Lonnie: Yesssss!!!!! Finally, the Queen gets the championship match that she so deserves!!! After being held back the last few years, Zelina finally gets a chance to shine. Most will think Asuka will kill Zelina here but hear me out. If Asuka wins easily, who does she fight next? Lana? Natalya? Mickie? I mean, there is really no one out there that would be a good challenger. However, if Zelina wins…. The promos would be phenomenal! I think a Zelina win here would give her legitimacy as an individual performer and it would allow WWE to do what they really want to do. And that is to make Bianca Belair a star and champion. With the Belair promo on Raw this past week, it is clear they have big plans for her. And what plans would be bigger than her winning the championship from Vega in the near future.

W: Zelina Vega

John: I'm happy Zelina is getting a chance to show what she can do. Let's face it, there's not many other options at the moment since Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler are holding the tag gold. It's a shame Bianca Belair hasn't been built up since getting called up. I don't think there's any way Zelina wins this. Even more so because this match is on the kickoff show. One could only hope that Asuka at least makes Zelina look good before making her tap.

W: Asuka

WWE Smackdown Tag Team Championship Match

Lucha House Party vs. Cesaro & Shinsuke Nakamura (champs)

Jesse: WWE has done a very poor job at booking their tag team division. Both Cesaro and Nakamura could be great mid carders going for the US Championship or the Intercontinental Championship but they are stuck in the tag team scene. My fellow 3 Centers will disagree but Lucha House Party can put on a show as well, so hopefully this match will lead to them breaking up and going on a single run as well. Cesaro and Nakamura win in what should be a match better than expectation.

W: Cesaro & Shinsuke Nakamura

Lonnie: In the last two weeks Cesaro and Nakamura have both had convincing wins over Lucha members. That streak should continue here. I think it’s nice to give a fresh face a title opportunity, but I do not feel like the House Party legit threats to win the championships. If it wasn’t for every title being defended this PPV, I don’t think they would have booked this match.

W: Cesaro & Shinsuke Nakamura

John: The state of tag team wrestling right now in WWE is terrible. I don't like the Lucha House Party and I think I've made that pretty clear in my reviews lately. The fact that they argue with each other each week on Smackdown is further proof why they shouldn't win. Even though Cesaro and Nakamura are awesome as should be high profile singles wrestlers, they'll have to carry Smackdown's tag division for awhile longer.

W: Cesaro & Shinsuke Nakamura

WWE Raw Tag Team Championship Match

Andrade & Angel Garza vs. The Street Profits (champs)

Jesse: Why in the world Andrade and Garza get another shot at the tag titles is crazy to me. Andrade is someone who I feel belongs in the main event picture, so wasting him in this match is doing nothing for him. Street Profits are great as champs, so keep the titles on them for a bit longer for the entertainment and then they lose them to a team from the Hurt Business.

W: The Street Profits

Lonnie: First off, I’m really glad Humberto and Dominik did not win on Raw to be in this match. They can challenge in the future, but I feel the Mysterios still have enough going on with Seth. As far as this match, I feel that the Street Profits should win here. Andrade and Garza have had their tension lately that led to Zelina leaving them, and I just don’t see them making it through this match without a mishap. I expect an Andrade/Garza implosion that allows the Profits to retain and sets up the feud of Andrade and Garza.

W: The Street Profits

John: Like Smackdown, Raw's tag division is also terrible at the moment so I'm not surprised that Andrade and Garza get another shot. Especially with Ivar out for the Viking Raiders. However, if Andrade/Garza were going to win the titles, they should of done it at SummerSlam. With no Zelina anymore, it's time for them to break up and feud with each other.

W: The Street Profits

WWE Women's Tag Team Championship Match

The Riott Squad vs. Nia Jax & Shayna Baszler (champs)

Jesse: I will have very few words for this match, because I’m still pissed WWE broke up the IIconics. Nia and Shayna aren’t going to lose the titles this soon, even though they should. Liv Morgan should be going for the Raw Women's title instead of being stuck in the Women’s Tag Team Title picture. Nia and Shayna retain but I’m not happy about it.

W: Nia Jax & Shayna Baszler

Lonnie: I’m really glad to see the Riott Squad getting a chance here. However, I feel like it would just be way too soon for Nia and Shayna to lose their championships. The only reason they would lose would be so that one of them could fight for the Raw Women’s championship and I don’t see them going that route right now. I am really hoping that the Riott Squad is made to look good here and doesn’t get squashed like Lana and Natalya did on Raw.

W: Nia Jax & Shayna Baszler

John: I feel I keep repeating myself and I am because this tag division isn't deep either. I am glad the Riott Squad is back together. If they weren't going to pull the trigger on Liv Morgan, this was the best thing they could do with her. It's a shame the Riott Squad hasn't gotten a run with the tag gold yet but I don't think it happens here. I wonder what Sarah Logan thinks about Liv and Ruby reunited as soon as she got released.

W: Nia Jax & Shayna Baszler

WWE United States Championship Match

Apollo Crews vs. Bobby Lashley (champ)

Jesse: The Hurt Business have been one of the few shining points of Raw recently. When they came out and attacked Retribution in their suits, it was one of the best moments of Post COVID television. Bobby Lashley is not going to lose so shortly after winning the title, so hopefully these 2 put on a great match and end their feud so Lashley can move on to someone else.

W: Bobby Lashley

Lonnie: This has been one of the better-established match ups over the last few months. With the recent twist of Cedric joining the Hurt Business they have continued to add new wrinkles to this feud. That being said, I feel like Retribution is going to be the main concern of the Hurt Business in the near future and Apollo and Ricochet will be an afterthought. For the reason of me not liking Lashley fighting Retribution and then having US title matches randomly on the side I feel like it's best if he loses here. He will be able to fight Retribution and Apollo can move onto something new.

W: Apollo Crews

John: I'm a fan of the Hurt Business and I think Lashley having the United States title gives them some legitimacy. I could see Apollo regaining since the Hurt Business has their hands full with Retribution (don't even get me started on them). However, I'd like to see Lashley hang onto the gold a little longer. I'd rather see Ricochet take it from him than Apollo.

W: Bobby Lashley

Triple Threat Ladder Match for the WWE Intercontinental Championship

Sami Zayn vs. AJ Styles vs. Jeff Hardy (champ)

Jesse: If you told me 5 years ago this match was going to happen, I would have never believed you. The hype around this match is on the same level as Shawn Michaels vs Razor Ramon at WrestleMania X, the fans will be the real winners of this match. Sami should win in the end, since technically he never lost to begin with, but I feel Hardy will pull out all the crazy spots in order to retain and validate himself as Intercontinental Champion.

W: Jeff Hardy

Lonnie: Sami Zayn (champ) vs. AJ Styles vs. Jeff Hardy There!!! I fixed the match listing for all of you!! This is by far the match I am most excited about on this card and I feel sorry for whoever has to follow these guys. AJ and Jeff were already having a great feud and then Sami returned and has been his usual awesome self. These guys should tear the house down and have a great match. I expect Jeff to do something nuts per usual and take himself out of the match. I am thinking that will allow the rightful champion, Sami Zayn to win here.

W: Sami Zayn

John: This should be the match that steals the show. These guys are all great and can tear the house down anyways but when you make it a ladder match, it's almost guaranteed to be great. I'm not sure on who walks out with the gold here. I tend to rule out Styles. There is rumored to be an upcoming draft in October and I could see him going back to Raw. Another rumor is he went to Smackdown initially to get away from Paul Heyman who was on Raw at the time. Heyman has recently returned to Smackdown so I could see Styles going back to Raw. Anyways, that leaves Hardy and Zayn. I could see either guy taking it and I'd be good with either one. I'm leaning towards Sami winning via some nefarious means. The promos after a Sami win would be gold! Hardy could win it back one-on-one down the road. THE GREAT LIBERATOR FOR THE WIN!

W: Sami Zayn

WWE Smackdown Women's Championship Match

Nikki Cross vs. Bayley (champ)

Jesse: I have said it before and I will say it again, Bayley vs. Sasha needs to happen....and soon. This just feels like they are kicking the can down the road. Bayley wins, but Sasha will be a big part of the match.

W: Bayley

Lonnie: Nikki should thank Jey Uso for her not having the lowest odds of winning this Sunday. I’ll give her a 0.02% chance of becoming champion compared to Jey’s 0% chance. This needs to be Bayley beating Nikki quickly and decisively. After the match Bayley needs to go on the attack and get a chair. When she starts to use the chair, Sasha needs to show up and make the save. Keep it simple and keep marching forward to the Bayley/Sasha match we all want.

W: Bayley

John: This is seriously filler. Every recent Smackdown is more focused on Bayley and Sasha Banks. Nikki Cross is an after thought here. There's absolutely no chance in hell Cross wins here. Bayley picks up the win and attempts to use a chair on Cross after the match until Banks makes a save. The question here is will the first Bayley vs. Banks match of their feud will be inside hell in a cell?

W: Bayley

WWE Universal Championship Match

Jey Uso vs. Roman Reigns (champ) w/ Paul Heyman

Jesse: I am not going to lie, when Jey first won his shot at the title I was against it. But these last few weeks the promos between these 2 have won me over on this storyline. Heel Roman has been amazing and going head to head vs his cousin is actually a great piece to his title run. Roman will win but this will be a great match from start to finish and should hopefully show that the Uso’s can put on great matches as individuals. I also feel that the Fiend might have something to say to Roman post-match as well.

W: Roman Reigns

Lonnie: Roman. If the match is longer than the entrances, then they wasted too much of my time on this because Jey has absolutely no chance in hell.

W: Roman Reigns

John: I'm impressed with how Jey has stepped up his game in this feud. He's been great on the mic and they're telling a good story. Heel Reigns is simply awesome. I'm optimistic they will tell a good story but the winner is not in doubt. Reigns should definitely win this and move on to his next feud which could be the Fiend or someone else random. The best scenario is they take us on a fun ride where maybe Jey can make us suspend belief for a moment and think he has a chance. But I'd be beyond shocked if Reigns didn't win.

W: Roman Reigns

Ambulance Match for the WWE Championship

Randy Orton vs. Drew McIntyre (champ)

Jesse: I really do feel bad for Drew being champ during WWE’s crowd less COVID shows. If there were fans in the seats, his reign would be an incredible redemption arch as he is going over in each match. But without crowds it just feels like his victories have no teeth with each passing Claymore. He is also running out of opponents to face on Raw, which is not helping him at all. Therefore, I believe it is time for Orton to take advantage and get another title reign under his belt. This should set it up nicely for Edge to come back in a few months and we can get their rubber match for the title.

W: Randy Orton

Lonnie: After Drew’s win last month, we knew that a rematch was coming. What we didn’t know is that we were going to get one of the most ridiculous builds to it ever. You know that punt Randy does that makes people go off TV for like 6-9 month? Yeah well Drew can take two and still run around the arena. After a third, he is only gone 2 weeks. And after repeated chair shots to the chin and then a punt this past week on Raw he will be perfectly fine for Clash 6 days later. You know that devastating move called the Claymore that put down even Brock Lesnar? Well Randy can take 3 of those and be perfectly fine 2 weeks later. I mean what the hell guys. I get they are trying to make these guys look like bad asses as they can recover quickly, but they are making their signature moves look weak and I’m clearly not a fan. When it comes to the match, I expect a winner after someone hits their signature move like 3-5 times. If Randy wins, he could then fight Keith Lee next as Lee has already beat him. But I’m not really sure you can justify that as Drew would want a rematch first. Only way it works is if Randy beats Drew so badly that he fights Lee next month while Drew is off TV. If Drew wins, I don’t know that you would give away a Lee/Drew championship match that feels at least Rumble worthy if not WrestleMania. I really am not sure how they proceed with Lee involved in the mix and who “should” win, so I’m just going to stick with the champ for now.

W: Drew McIntyre

John: I feel bad for McIntyre. I really do. He has had the task of carrying the company as the top guy in one of the most uncertain times if not the most uncertain time in the company's history. He most definitely deserves to have his moment when he comes out into an arena with a live crowd to hold the title up high and celebrate. The only problem long do you wait for that to happen? I still stand by the idea that Randy Orton has done some of the best work of his career as of late. I think that work has made him deserving of another title run. With that said, I think the stipulation here makes it so McIntyre can lose the title without looking bad in a loss (without getting pinned). I'm not sure what happens next. Orton could defend against Keith Lee who holds a victory over Orton. McIntyre could get a rematch inside hell in a cell or we could get a triple threat between Orton/Lee/McIntyre. It's anyone's guess but I feel Orton takes the title here. McIntyre can get it back when we have live crowds again so he can have the moment he never got to have.

W: Randy Orton
