NXT 7/20/2021 Quick Results: Joe Wants Kross; NXT Women's Championship Main Events; More!



Here's what's on tap for tonight's NXT:

NXT comes to you from the Capitol Wrestling Center. The show opened with highlights leading up to Karrion Kross putting Samoa Joe to sleep. It's with the "End is Here" music.


Samoa Joe kicks off the show and he looks ready to fight. Joe wants Kross now. William Regal rushed out to put a stop to this. Regal says this isn't happening but Joe claims he was beyond provoked. Regal gives Joe some semantics. Joe says Kross is out of control and needs to be put down. Joe questions Kross' "field trip" to Raw. Don't remind us of how that went. Joe says he's here to put Kross under control. "Joe" chants from the crowd. Regal says Kross is on his way and this will be solved peacefully. Joe guarantees it'll end tonight but it won't be peacefully. Joe says someone is going to sleep tonight. Joe is fired up!



A video package airs for Xia Li. She says she'll make history tonight and become the first Chinese NXT Women's Champion.


NXT Cruiserweight Champion Kushida & Bobby Fish defeated Diamond Mine (Roderick Strong & Tyler Rust) w/ Malcolm Bivens via submission @ 15:02 when Kushida made Rust tap out to Hoverboard Lock. Great stuff by all four men. Don't know how I feel about Diamond Mine already taking a loss but they still looked great.



We see LA Knight and Cameron Grimes arriving earlier today. Knight makes Grimes carry his bags. They run into Drake Maverick who tries to help Grimes but Knight won't let him. That leads to tonight's match between Knight and Maverick.

A vignette hypes Odyssey Jones for the Breakout Tournament.


Samoa Joe paces by the door to the arena.


Franky Money defeated Jacy Jayne via pin @ 3:21. Monet won with the Road to Valhalla. Mandy Rose came out to watch the match. Easy win for Monet but Jayne got more offense than I expected.



Johnny Gargano and Austin Theory are interviewed earlier today about his loss to Kross. Kyle O'Reilly interrupts and he heard what Austin Theory said about his last week. O'Reilly challenges Theory to a match tonight. Theory accepts. It's next!


NXT is moving to SyFy for the next two weeks.


Wade Barrett interviewed Bronson Reed. Reed has a match against Adam Cole next week.


Kyle O'Reilly defeated Austin Theory via submission @ 14:05. O'Reilly made Theory tap out to a knee bar. Good match here and Theory also got time to shine.



Raquel Gonzalez is interviewed about Xia Li's comments. Gonzalez says Li won't be fulfilling any destiny. Gonzalez says nothing about Li or her friends scares her. Gonzalez vows to put Li down and then says there will be no one left.


Legado del Fantasma has their Mariachi Musical Madness. Escobar dismisses the band. He was going to give us the best music in the world but he changed his mind. He won't lower himself to entertain us. Escobar runs down the fans. Escobar says what Hit Row did was embarrassing. Escobar suggest he'll challenge for the NXT North American Championship. Hit Row interrupts and runs down Legado. Swerve tells Escobar that he will make him his bitch but Escobar vows to take his title. We get a brawl and Hit Row stands tall after breaking a guitar over Wilde.



The Way argues. Gargano tries to be the peacekeeper and Theory walks out.


Joe is still waiting for Kross. Regal comes and asks Joe to calm down. Joe respects Regal but he vows to be the first one to greet Kross.


Odyssey Jones defeated Andre Chase via pin @ 3:19 in a first round match of the Breakout Tournament. Jones looks good and is sporting old school Nation of Domination colors so he reminded me of Mark Henry back in the day.



McKenzie interviews NXT Tag Team Champions MSK. They're looking forward to their next challenge. An Imperium vignette cuts in. It appears they're the next challengers.


Pete Dunne and Oney Lorcan promo now. Dunne says he's wanted someone to challenge him for months. Thatcher and Ciampa finally stepped up. We're getting a tag match next week.


Drake Maverick defeated Million Dollar Champion LA Knight via pin @ 2:23. Maverick beat Knight with a roll up after drop kicking Knight into the Million Dollar Championship that as being held by Grimes. Post match, Knight beats down Maverick and demands Grimes do the same against his will. Grimes reluctantly does it.



Gonzalez is backstage getting ready for the championship match. We see the highlight of Li confronting her. It's next!


A black car finally arrives and Joe pulls the driver out. It's not Kross but the guy says Kross is already in the building. Joe rushes into the arena.


Remind about NXT being on SyFy the next two weeks. Vic Joseph is clever and tells us there will be no zombie on SyFy. I see what you did there Vic.


Raquel Gonzalez defeated Xia Li via pin @ 10:47 to successfully defend her NXT Women's Championship. During the match, it was stopped at one point while medical staff legit had to check on Li after Gonzalez hit her with a twisting senton Vader Bomb type move. They let Li finish but went immediately to the finish. This was good up until the stoppage. Gonzalez seemed concerned.



Joe comes to the ring and demands Kross come to the ring to play. Joe tells Kross that there will be a reckoning and Joe says he'll stomp Kross' ass all over the arena. Kross appears on the tron and says this is his world now. Kross says the championship means he can do whatever he wants. KROSS SHOWS US THAT HE LAID OUT REGAL IN THE PARKING LOT! By the time Joe gets there, Kross speeds away to end the show!
